Womindjeka, welcome
Kinglake marks the meeting point of the Wurundjeri and Taungurung peoples of the Kulin Nation.
What an honour to live in place with such rich heritage. As Aimee McCartney's 'Ngarrak Yilam' mural demonstrates, our 'mountain home' is surrounded by high mountain ranges, and continues to serve as an meeting point even today. This mural takes pride of place at the Kinglake Market and Community Centre.
At KRCC, We proudly acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which our Children’s Centre and bush kinder sites sit.
Our centre on Extons Road is located on the traditional land of the Taungurung people.
Our bush kinder sites lie on the traditional land of the Wurundjeri people.
Whether at our centre or exploring our bush sites, we acknowledge these clans of the Kulin Nations as First Peoples of the land, sky and waterways. We pay our respects to the generations past and present who raise children in community on Country.
